Racism Threatens Us All

The news media reports that racism is alive right here in modern day America. Unbelievable! Northern states, like Indiana and Pennsylvania are showing their ignorant, bigoted and ugly side to the world. This is 2008 for God’s sake. Why is this backwoods, white-trash, red-necked attitude still alive today?
This ignorance is abhorrent. I am from Indiana, and some of my fellow Hoosiers are an embarrassment to educated, enlightened Americans. They embarrass themselves by hanging on to old tired stereotypes.
For someone to make the statement “I’ll never vote for a black person” belies the progress this country has made in maturing into a nation of tolerance and acceptance.
This nation is suffering from a president with the lowest approval rating ever achieved by a president and whose economic, environmental and foreign policies have almost ruined this nation. We are now faced with three choices, a black man who wants to change the direction in which this country is headed; a white man who wants to keep it going in the same direction; and a white woman who has a history of lying, theft, legal scandals, associations with lawbreakers and will stoop to any dirty tactic to win.
To these bigoted, self-centered, under-educated, rednecks there is no way they would choose the one person who could reverse our downward slide into economic ruin just because he is black. It is amazing, how far these ignorant people will drag this country down in order to serve their own selfish desires.
The self-ruinous hostility sickens me and the underlying reason for it saddens me. Ignorance and the blatant refusal to overcome it is a cancer that needs to be surgically removed. Most whites from Indiana and Pennsylvania don’t deserve the label of racists or bigots, which only intensifies the ugly contrast of those who do.
The statement was made that "White people look out for white people, and black people look out for black people." This person is missing the point of being American. He is so wrapped up in his own personal prejudicial hatred that he has drifted away from the true American spirit. This close-minded view is an embarrassment to true Americans. The sad fact is that there are whites as well as blacks who feel this way. But there is hope in knowing that this sentiment is becoming more and more isolated. The fact that it gets media play, reminding us that the scars from a darker time in our history are still felt, brings it out into the open, can somehow, hopefully, help to stamp it out. Maybe by seeing this ridiculous statement in print this person will realize how divisive this belief is. If this evil remains in the dark recesses of America’s consciousness it has no chance of being addressed and obliterated. This person has to realize he is in the minority opinion.
I am encouraged to know that this black American, this American, named Barack Obama has enough class to stay above this type of juvenile trash. Educated, enlightened adults don’t speak like these heathens and thankfully they no longer represent the majority in this society.
We have come a long way in race relations in this country, but apparently some choose to stay behind.
It is amazing to me to know that some people are still classified based solely on skin color and not character. Humans have a lot to offer each other, and skin color has nothing to do with it. People who close themselves off to that fact, choosing to hang on to the belief that they are superior to anyone who does not look like them are doomed to extinction, and quite frankly it can’t happen soon enough.

Race doesn’t matter in the presidential office

Throughout this entire presidential campaign Barack Obama has garnered most of the African-American vote (why do we still use the term African-American? The very use of terms like this keeps the racial division alive). Hillary Clinton has received her largest support from white Americans (why aren’t whites labeled European-Americans?)
And the greatest racial division exists in the ‘old south’. Boy am I surprised. The three states that have shown the greatest polarization is Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas.
To choose someone for our highest office based solely on race is a wasted vote, in my opinion. These are politicians. Haven’t you been paying attention to what elected politicians do to our country. What makes you think race is going to change anything?
One person doesn’t decide our future anyway. It’s the group of ‘expert advisors’ that the president surrounds himself/herself with. The president is not going to look out for one race over the other. The president will still be pulled from all sides to give special favors to whoever throws the most money at them. And if we have learned anything at all from American politics it is that big money always gets what it wants. It makes no difference if you are white, black, red or yellow. Money will win out.
When that phone rings at 3 AM do you really think that race will determine its outcome? It will be a crisis and the president’s background or race won’t amount to anything in how you deal with it. What does matter most is how you deal with foreign nations to prevent that phone call from being made.
Let us not forget, the president is only a figurehead put in place for us to focus the blame and the glory. The people who truly run this country are the group of advisors he/she surrounds themselves with. Look at the group of people George W. Bush surrounds himself with. They are a bunch of corporate-backed, opportunistic millionaires who saw an opportunity to make even more money by supporting a war in Iraq. Instead of taking the moral high ground to actually help the people of Iraq they decided to play the military card as a means of helping themselves make more money.
These people are politicians first and foremost. They will say anything to get elected. Someone please enlighten me as to how many years you have to go back to find the last president who actually gave a damn about the common man and was able to change our lives for the better.
Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and John McCain are millionaires. Do you think they care about the plight of the minimum wage grunt whose tax dollars go to pay the salaries of that other group of millionaires collectively called Congress? They care only so much as to do what it takes to keep that money flowing in their direction.
If any one of these three had been sitting behind that desk in the oval office when the twin towers were destroyed, do you think their decision to declare war on terrorism would have been any different than George W. Bush’s? Maybe, just maybe, we would not have declared war against Saddam Hussein, we will never know. But I can assure you that our day to day lives would have changed anyway.
Will there be fewer political scandals under Clinton’s presidency or Obama’s presidency? How about McCain’s presidency?
Will the moral and ethical character of this country be uplifted more by having one millionaire with corporate America in their pocket over the other?
Will the price of gasoline and food come down quicker under the presidency of a black president or a white president?
Will our dilapidated infrastructure, our rapidly depleting social security and healthcare systems be repaired quicker under one over the other?
Does race have anything to do with answering any of these questions?
Race doesn’t amount to squat when it comes time to facing a nuclear backed government bent on our destruction.
Please, Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas in particular, and the rest of country in general, do not waste your vote on things that don’t matter. Vote for the character of the person based on that person’s past performance. Let’s try to get it right this time, for everyone’s sake, not just yours.

State’s are forced to address immigration issue

U.S. states are enacting immigration laws because the federal government won’t do it. Border states are fed up with federal governments inaction and have begun passing strict immigration laws that are pushing immigrants further north. This is only delaying the Fed’s inevitable involvement and is basically forcing illegals to leave the state to become someone elses problem.

Arizona recently passed legislation to punish business owners who hire illegals, Oklahoma passed legislation to punish anyone harboring or transporting illegals.

Many states are passing or proposing legislation to make English the official language of their state. This, to me seems absolutely ludicrous, that an American state has to pass a law to make our native language the only official language.

Worker shortages are adversely affecting struggling businesses, immigrants are afraid of being on the street for fear of being arrested. This country is becoming likened to Nazi Germany’s treatment of Jews.

People often use the argument that we Americans were once illegal immigrants and that we have forsaken our heritage. This is a gross over-simplification of this situation. When we arrived on these shores, this country was largely uninhabited. There was no organized society of taxpayers. The was no established economic group being threatened by persons trying to take advantage of it without supporting it.

America grew out of the promise of religious freedom, of freedom of persecution, of promise of financial security, and now that this great undertaking has proven itself successful we are fearful of foreigners undermining these promises and freedoms by partaking of the advantages without paying for them.

We are a caring nation, usually the first to spring to action to offer aid and assistance to any natural disaster no matter where in the world it strikes. But why should we give away what we have struggled and sacrificed for to someone who has not helped us achieve it?

I have personally been struggling with this question for years. On the one hand, a good neighbor should extend help to those less fortunate, on the other hand if you see a trend of being taken advantage of you come to see yourself as a fool to continue offering that help.

There is a belief that you should do everything you can to help yourself and not rely on others to do it all for you. This individual self reliance is what has made America strong. Those people living here in America who would rather live off of other’s generosity are a detriment to this society. They are counterproductive and create a financial and psychological drain on hard working American taxpayers. There are American citizens that fall into this category just as there are those who are not citizens that are guilty of this behavior.

Racism has nothing to do with this. If you can come into this country, legally, and offer yourself as a citizen of this country, learn our language, work to improve this society without bringing it down then you are welcome.

If you come into this country to prey on others, to take jobs away from American citizens and then send all your money back to your country without paying our taxes then you are not welcome. It is as simple as that. Americans that give jobs to foreigners instead of American citizens for the sake of saving themselves money are un-American, low-life leeches and should be ferreted out and punished.

The federal government needs to step up and create meaningful legislation to help everyone involved instead of leaving it up to individual states that only seek to push the problem off onto someone else. So far states have ‘solved’ their immigration problem by using punishment against its own citizens. This is not a neighborly way to behave and sadly leans on the fascist form of government. Forcing an individual state to address this problem causes the neighboring state to enact similar legislation which will push the immigrant into yet another state and sets a dangerous path of fascist precedents. Where are they to go at this point?

Building that wall is enclosing us in as well as keeping others out. I don’t think this is the way to go. It is a poor substitute for federal political action.

Ann Coulter: backwater, red-neck, hick

Why is this woman ever given the spotlight or a micrphone or any forum where she can once again show the world what an ass she really is?

Is this bimbo for real? She cannot possibly believe in what she says!

Every time this woman speaks it becomes more and more apparent that her plans for this country is to be ‘purified’ of anyone who is not white, of anyone who is not Christian, and that women should be forced back into the kitchen, without the right to vote, and allowed to speak only when spoken to.

She must be a card carrying 19th century Ku Klux Klan member.

I cannot understand why any media outlet who wishes to remain legitimate and not be dismissed as a comedy show would allow her be a guest.

Her latest disgrace to every free thinking person on this planet is her belief that the U.S. would be better off if it were all-Christian and it “would be a lot easier" for Jews if they were to become Christians.

The show that lowered its standards by allowing this hate-mongering, ignorant, poor excuse for an American to become a guest is “The Big Idea” hosted by Donny Deutsch.

The producers of this obviously low-level televised interview program should be ashamed of themselves.

This woman has me struggling with the notion of the right to freedom of speech.

When I argued that Ahmadinejad had the right to speak at Columbia University last month, I truly believed it is because as a head of state he holds the dignity of that position and therefore deserves the right to be heard, whether we agree with him or not. And since he is not an American, we can let him go back to his repressive, ignorant regime where, thankfully, we don’t have to endure him.

This bimbo is no politician and I pray to God that she does not have a following, because that is just truly scary. She amounts to no more than an laughingstock of backward thinking to be made fun of and I can understand a television show using her for that ‘entertainment’ value.

She has the right to speak her mind, I just don’t understand why anyone would allow themselves to be lowered to her level by being seen in public conversing with her.

In case you have missed her list of narrow-minded inflammatory beliefs, here are a few: she believes that President Bill Clinton and Al Gore are “fags”, she believes that the 9/11 widows are enjoying their husbands’ deaths.

She needs to crawl back into her time machine and go back to the 19th century where she would obviously feel more comfortable under some mans thumb, ordering her slaves around and we would not be subjected to her hateful garbage.
